Micky van de Ven’s latest comments regarding new Tottenham signing Omar Marmoush do not reflect well on Dominic Solanke.
Tottenham’s issues upfront have been debated long and hard already this season, with there being little evidence so far that the Lilywhites have enough goals in their team.
While Spurs are expected to prioritise signing a number nine in January, the big question is who is going to get them the goals for the next two and a half months, and Roberto De Zerbi has a clear answer.
The Tottenham boss showered praise on Solanke after his goal at Old Trafford, describing the England international as a ‘complete player’, and insisting the 29-year-old’s attributes make him a perfect fit to lead the line for his side.
However, it turns out that the Spurs captain believes the Lilywhites already have a better striker than the former Bournemouth man in their squad.

Micky van de Ven names Omar Marmoush as the best Tottenham striker he has played with
In a segment with Fan Zone on TikTok, Van de Ven was asked to pick the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, winger and striker he has played with and against in his career so far.
Most of the Dutchman’s answers were along the lines one expected, with the 25-year-old naming Cristian Romero as the best defender he played with and Heung-min Son as the best winger.
However, when asked to name the best striker he played with so far in his career, Van de Ven picked Omar Marmoush over Solanke and Richarlison.
That means that the defender even rates Marmoush above Brian Brobbey and Memphis Depay, who he has played alongside for his national side. It thus appears that Marmoush has made a strong impression on the Tottenham captain since his move to N17.
Roberto De Zerbi is reluctant to play Marmoush as a striker
De Zerbi’s recent selections indicate that he is not convinced Marmoush is the ideal option to lead the line, and prefers the former Man City man on the left.

This has also been backed up by media reports, with TEAMtalk revealing a couple of weeks ago that the Tottenham boss wants to shift Marmoush to left wing or the ten role.
It was revealed that De Zerbi’s desire to do so is one of the main reasons why the Italian is keen on adding another out-and-out centre-forward to his squad in January.
