Luka Doncic has officially added another award to his collection before the start of the 2026-27 season, this time for the most creative highlight with the Los Angeles Lakers.
"We had an individual on our team win an award from last season," head coach JJ Redick announced at Thursday's practice. "Luka won the NBA's Handle of the Year for a very specific play."
Doncic won the 2025-26 NBA ID Fan Favorites Handle of the Year award for a move against the Utah Jazz, beating out fellow nominees Stephon Castle, Darius Garland, Aaron Gordon, De'Andre Hunter, and Tyrese Maxey.
The winning play came during the Lakers' 108-106 road victory over Utah on November 23, 2025, when Doncic pushed the ball in transition, sent it between Kevin Love's legs, and then connected with Jaxson Hayes for an alley-oop.
Luka finished that game with 33 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists.

He scored 37 points in the first matchup, followed by a 33-point performance featuring the Handle of the Year play, and later erupted for 45 points, 11 rebounds, and 14 assists in another meeting in Salt Lake City.
Overall, the Slovenian superstar averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists last season.
