Mohamed Salah now holds a unique record alongside a former Liverpool teammate after he found the back of the net again for Trabzonspor, this time in European competition

Mohamed Salah has become just the third player ever to score and assist in all three of UEFA's club competitions — the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League.

Having failed to qualify for the Europa League, losing to Ferencvaros in the play-offs, Trabzonspor only made it to the third-tier tournament. On matchday one, Salah helped his new side to a 4-2 victory over the Finnish outfit KuPS.

Salah teed up Paul Onuachu in the third minute and then added his own name to the scoresheet just before half-time. He was given a rest for the final third of the game with his team comfortably in the lead.

The only other players who have both scored and assisted in all three UEFA tournaments are his former Liverpool teammate Cody Gakpo and Jurgen Klopp favorite Mario Gotze.

Gakpo played in the first season of the Conference League with PSV. He has then played in the Europa League and the Champions League with Liverpool.

Salah has scored eight goals in all competitions for Trabzonspor so far and tops the Turkish Super Lig scoring charts. He faces a huge game this weekend when his side hosts Besiktas.

Speaking to ESPN, Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker was asked this week whether he misses Salah, as well as someone like Neymar who recently left the Brazilian national team set-up.

"Of course," he replied. "All these players brought and bring great benefits when they play in their clubs or national teams.

"And while they play, they'll always bring benefits. But it goes on. Brazil, Liverpool.

"Liverpool is a great team, we hired new players and already have a very good squad here. Brazil is also still renewing. So things move on.

"Obviously, we have a nostalgic spirit, those who love football have a nostalgic spirit, so they'll always look at the beautiful moments those players gave their fans. And we will always miss them and want to relive those moments."

Liverpool.com says: Salah leaving was the right call in the summer, though seeing him in the Conference League will take some getting used to; it feels like quite the step down.

Trabzonspor should be eyeing a long run in the competition, however. It plays Hearts next week, with the former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho also among its ranks.
