Athletic Club’s Nico Williams (24) reportedly turned down a move to Paris Saint-Germain two years ago, according to Félix Tainta, the Spanish forward’s agent.

_“We all know about Barça’s interest in the summer of 2024, after the Euros,”_ he said in an interview with the **Los Fulanos** podcast. _“Barça, Arsenal, Bayern, Liverpool, PSG… I could name them all. Everyone wanted Nico, and it’s not easy for a player to say no to all those clubs.”_

However, the World Cup winner is said not to have been averse to a move. _“Nico was thinking of leaving,”_ continued Tainta, highlighting his client’s ambitions to win the most prestigious trophies. Furthermore, whilst Barça had indeed wished to secure his services, the Catalan club’s inability to provide Williams with _“firm guarantees”_ had led to the deal falling through.

And it was at Athletic that he ultimately decided to continue his career, even signing a contract extension until 2035. A decision highlighted by Tainta, who emphasised Williams’ loyalty to the club where he came through the ranks.
