Bournemouth have reportedly softened their stance on selling Alex Scott in January, with Liverpool among the clubs interested in the midfielder.
The Cherries are prepared to consider a mid-season sale if they are confident of securing Premier League survival and receive a fee of around £100million.
Liverpool have monitored Scott in recent months, although Chelsea have been the most active suitors, submitting several bids that reportedly reached £68million during the summer transfer window.
Bournemouth had previously been reluctant to sell key players before next summer, with Rayan and Eli Junior Kroupi also among those they wanted to retain.
However, their position on Scott appears to have changed, potentially opening the door to a bidding war. According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are serious contenders for Scott and are in the driving seat due to his connection with Andoni Iraola.
However, Bournemouth may be using the Reds’ interest to pressure Chelsea into making a higher bid. Scott impressed for England during the September/October international break.
Whether Liverpool would be willing to pay £100million for the midfielder, who will have just 18 months remaining on his contract in January, remains to be seen.
With no new contract currently on the table for Alexis Mac Allister and no midfield signings since 2023, Liverpool are expected to strengthen that area over the next 12 months. The Reds also admire Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, who is reportedly on Chelsea’s radar.
If Bournemouth do not sell Scott in January, their negotiating position could weaken next summer, with the midfielder potentially entering the final year of his contract before becoming a free agent in 2028.
Scott is currently sidelined with an injury sustained on England duty. Although it is not as serious as initially feared, the setback could complicate any potential January transfer.
This season, Alex Scott has racked up six appearances, scored once and provided two assists for Bournemouth across all competitions.
