Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento is likely to remain on the sidelines for several more weeks.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference before the Aston Villa game, head coach Matthias Jaissle said:

“We know about his injury situation and history, but we’re optimistic [that] in the next few weeks we can bring him back step by step.”

Livramento has already missed two games with a knee problem, and it looks like he could well be sidelined for a few more.

Newcastle play 5 games before the next international break

Based on Jaissle’s remarks, it seems unlikely that Livramento will be back in contention before the next round of international fixtures in early to mid-November

The England international could, therefore, be unavailable for the four Premier League fixtures against Villa, Crystal Palace, Everton and Fulham.

Livramento will also be absent for the Carabao Cup fourth-round tie against Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, which takes place just before the end of this month.

Latest Newcastle United injury news

Jaissle has confirmed that Bazoumana Toure has managed to avoid serious injury. The winger turned his ankle badly during the 4-1 defeat to Coventry City on Monday night, but there is a chance he could make the matchday squad for the Villa fixture.

The Magpies boss also revealed that Anthony Elanga (hamstring) and Jacob Ramsey (thigh) are expected to return to training at some point next week.

Apart from Livramento, there is only one other long-term absentee – goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen. The France Under-21 international is set to be sidelined until the beginning of December with a hamstring injury he sustained in training whilst away with his country.
