Coach Mitch Johnson's San Antonio Spurs held a massive lead over the Sacramento Kings in preseason action not long after center Victor Wembanyama dropped an interesting “best on planet” remark. Wembanyama logged 24 minutes and scored 14 points as of the third quarter during a time when NBA GMs picked him over his peers in several categories, although Nikola Jokic bested him in one of them.

The highlight play of the night for Wembanyama was shared by ESPN's Adam Schefter, who compared his rebound and length-of-the-court drive into an off-the-glass alley oop to a video game.

The Spurs led 88-60 as the third quarter began to wind down and the Kings did their best to scrape their way back into the game at Frost Bank Center. Johnson's team appeared ready for the regular season to start as its five best players all scored in double digits heading into the final quarter. Dylan Harper led the way with 19 points followed by De'Aaron Fox with 16, Wembanyama with 14, Stephon Castle with 13 and Devin Vassell with 12.

Keldon Johnson had 12 points of his own as the third quarter came to a close.

Johnson's Spurs are an NBA title favorite this season with Reggie Miller naming a dark horse challenger to the Spurs budding roster recently. Carter Bryant's Kobe Bryant inspired workout turned heads as the Spurs' roster continued to make headlines apart from its franchise player, Wembanyama.

The Spurs are looking like a championship contender again, and Wembanyama's otherworldly talents are among the biggest reasons why. His dunk against the Kings showed that he has everything and more he needs to win MVP this season, and perhaps a Finals MVP while he's at it.
