Anthony Davis received positive news about his eye injury

Anthony Davis is set to begin a new chapter with the Washington Wizards. Along with making his Eastern Conference debut this season, the 33-year-old forward has received medical clearance to play without protective eyewear moving forward.

Anthony Davis is ready to start from scratch with the Washington Wizards.

After season and a half with the Dallas Mavericks, Davis will start the 2026-27 campaign in the capital city of the United States of America.

With the franchise having a new direction with this year's No.1 overall pick in the NBA Draft AJ Dybantsa, Davis also received some news about his health status.

No more goggles for Davis' eyes

After initial projections that Davis will be forced to wear protective goggles as eyewear for the rest of his career, that assumption changed.

As revealed by Josh Robbins of The Athletic, Davis won't be forced by the doctors to wear it anymore.

“He told me yesterday that he's been told by a physician that he no longer needs protective eyewear”, per Josh Robbins, Wizards' beat writer for The Athletic.

Davis played almost 27 minutes last night in Wizards' narrow loss to Davis' first franchise New Orleans Pelicans 107-106.

He contributed with a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds in the final preseason game before the season starts.

First opportunity in the Eastern Conference

Davis played in just 20 games last season with the Dallas Mavericks before getting traded and being sidelined with an injury.

During that period, 33-year old forward averaged 20.4 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 31 minutes.

This will be his first time playing in the Eastern Conference after stints with Pelicans, Los Angeles Lakers and Mavericks.
