The Blues will be without captain Reece James. The right-back-turned-midfielder was not in the squad for the 5-1 win over Bournemouth. It has since been confirmed that he underwent surgery on a knee issue and will be sidelined. This will almost be good news for fans as many would have worried he aggravated his long-term hamstring issues.
Joining James on the sidelines are attackers Jamie Gittens and Emmanuel Emegha. Emegha has not played a minute since joining from Strasbourg after being hurt in behind-closed-doors action before the team’s pre-season tour.
Everton Team News
The defensive unit could be hit hard by two doubts for this one. Vitalii Mykolenko is the only natural left-back but he hasn’t played since being sent home early during the international break with an issue. He is closer to a return as he’s had weeks to heal but he isn’t guaranteed to feature.
The other issue is the potential absence of Jarrad Branthwaite. With the back four options already stretched thin against Hull with three natural centre-backs having to start across the back line, one more injury would be a real headache for Moyes.
