LIVERPOOL, England (AP) - Argentina goalkeeper Emi Martinez was carried off on a stretcher after receiving about 10 minutes of treatment following a collision at a free kick while playing for Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

Martinez came out to meet a cross into the area and collided with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite midway through the second half at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

While Branthwaite continued to play after a concussion test, Martinez had to come off the field because of an apparent head injury and was replaced by Mike Penders.

Medical staff from both teams attended to Martinez, who - British broadcaster TNT Sports reported - was being taken to the hospital. Martinez was seen moving his arms as he was being taken off the field.

The score was 1-0 to Chelsea at the time.
