Szoboszlai was also absent from their midweek 6-3 win over LASK in the Champions League.
He was named in the starting XI at Brentford on Saturday, but unable to see out the first half for Liverpool.
The Hungarian international went down off the ball and appeared to be affected by his hamstring once again.
Szoboszlai looked visibly upset as he walked straight down the tunnel at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The 25-year-old has started in all six of the league fixtures he has been available for this season.
But Szoboszlai could face a longer spell on the sidelines with his latest fitness blow.
Liverpool were awarded a penalty moments later but, after a quick VAR review, it was overturned as replays showed Dango Ouattara winning the ball rather than fouling Alexis Mac Allister.
Brentford then scored the opener on 44 minutes as Keane Lewis-Potter headed in from an excellent Igor Thiago cross.

However, they went down to ten men moments before the break as Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off for violent conduct on Jeremy Jacquet.
"After review, the Brentford No.6 commits a headbutting action. The final decision is a red card," referee John Brooks said.
