Moyes criticised referee Paul Tierney for leaving Rogers unpunished after a 50/50 challenge.

Everton manager David Moyes believes Morgan Rogers should have seen a red card in Chelsea’s 2-0 Premier League win on Saturday afternoon.
Referee Paul Tierney caught a lot of attention for some of his decisions during the match. He was rather harsh in some incidents, while surprisingly lenient in others.
He handed out seven yellow cards in total during the game, four of which were shown to Chelsea players.
Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer were cautioned for dissent, while Rogers received his for his reaction to James Tarkowski barging into Moises Caicedo off the ball. Rogers shoved Tarkowski during an altercation and was booked for it in the 37th minute.
But two minutes before the break, there was another incident in which Rogers and Everton midfielder James Garner flew into a 50-50 challenge that left both in pain.
Tierney deemed it a fair challenge from both sides, and the two players escaped punishment.
After a goalless first half, Chelsea went on to secure the three points thanks to Pedro Neto’s second-half brace.
Moyes claims Rogers should have been sent off
After the game, Moyes made it clear he wasn't happy with Tierney’s refereeing. He specifically mentioned the yellow card Harrison Armstrong received for a tackle on Josh Acheampong and the Rogers-Garner challenge.
“We’ve got referees who we want to be the best in Europe or think they’re the best because they let things go,” the Everton boss said in his post-match press conference.
“I thought it (Armstrong’s tackle) was a half-decent tackle. Maybe somebody might tell me (otherwise). I wasn’t sure it was the right decision. I was disappointed with the decision at the time.
“After a wee look at Morgan Rogers’ tackle on Jimmy, which you know- maybe some might have said something different. I think that might have made that a second yellow. It wasn’t the case."
It is hard to judge these types of challenges because both players went for it with the intention to play the ball.
Rogers actually touched the ball first, but his momentum carried his foot across the top of the ball and made contact with Garner’s upper shin. Garner was also slightly late and caught Rogers’ trailing leg with the studs.
Neither player was seriously injured nor punished for trying to win a loose ball for their respective side. Chelsea fans would argue Garner should have been carded, and vice versa.
Tarkowski, who received a yellow card for a foul on Caicedo, also escaped caution for the altercation with Rogers, while the latter was booked. Tarkowski grabbed Rogers’ shirt during the clash.
Criticism of refereeing decisions is nothing new, but it is unfair to claim that it benefited Chelsea, who received more yellow cards and even had a few penalty appeals waved away.
Chelsea were the better side and deservedly claimed all three points. They now sit fourth in the Premier League table and will stay in this position until next Saturday's London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
