FC Barcelona continued with their winning form as they beat Real Betis in their last La Liga match last night at La Cartuja in Seville. The Verdiblanco side was in great form ahead of this match but was still no match for the Catalans, who ended up winning this match 2-5.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, Hansi Flick addressed the press following this match. This win proved to be quite costly for the Blaugranes, as several of their players, including Eric Garcia, Gerard Martin, and Jules Kounde suffered physical problems. In his presser, the German coach was unable to provide any meaningful update on their conditions:
“For now, the most important thing is to recover. Recovery is very important, and we need to see how we manage the minutes on Tuesday. We’ll see; we’ll find 11 players. We don’t know what will happen with Eric. Koundé has some minor problems, and Gerard does too, so we’ll have to see. We have two more days, and we’ll see what happens on Tuesday. We have to wait for the medical results.”
Further talking about Eric Garcia, the Barcelona coach assured:
“He thinks it’s just a knock, but we have to wait until tomorrow.”
Flick was clear that Lamine Yamal is currently the best player in the world:
“When you see the first goal he scored, it’s incredible. Right now, he is the best player in the world. I’m very happy with his performance, and that’s what I want to say. Of course, he has pressure on him. He is 19 and has played every match, but he is 100% focused and committed. He is a very good player. His performance was incredible, as was his attitude, and that is what great players are like.”
Meanwhile, he also clarified why he subbed him off as the game became increasingly heated:
“With this result, we had to take him off. It was clear, and I told him I was very proud of him because he had played a fantastic match.”
Despite the score, the German coach admitted it was not an easy match:
“It wasn’t an easy match; we knew that already. Betis were fantastic in terms of their pace and intensity, but we also played very well and deserved the win.”
“It was a very intense match, incredible for the fans and for people who love football.”
Overall, the Barcelona coach was very happy with the win, especially in the context of their upcoming difficult matches:
“Everyone is performing at their best, and that’s what I say at every press conference because I see it every day. The most important thing is that they train at the highest level, and they are doing that. We have PSG on Tuesday, so we’ll need to recover properly and see how we manage the minutes. But today’s victory is incredible for us.”
Flick also praised his assistant coaches for their work:
“It’s important to have that strength from set pieces. I’m happy that we scored the second goal before half-time; it was important. We work on these situations, and Heiko (Westermann) and Dela (De la Fuente) are doing a good job.”
Barcelona have broken several records with their incredible start to the season, but the German coach was clear that he is not too concerned with this:
“It’s nice to break records, but we want to win trophies and achieve greater things. That’s why we play football.”
With this win, Hansi Flick led his team to a win that can prove to be important as Barcelona brace themselves to face two top sides in their upcoming two games, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid, and hopefully, the Blaugranes will now be going into these matches in the best of spirits.
