Manchester City are waiting for the outcome of their appeal and sanctions hearings
Hello and welcome to the Manchester Evening News' Manchester City charges live blog.
City continued their winning start to the Premier League season yesterday by beating Ipswich Town and remain top of the table. However, it is difficult to say Enzo Maresca's side are in the Premier League title race given the uncertainty surrounding their future after being found guilty of 114 financial charges.
The club have appealed against the decision and are expected to find out in early 2027 if that is successful, but a sports lawyer has explained why it could be difficult.
At the same time, a sanctions hearing is taking place with the potential punishments ranging from a fine to Premier League expulsion. The three-person commission that deemed City in breach will be making that decision with the latest claim being that they will know their possible sanctions before the end of the season.
With all of that being said, stay with us throughout the day for all the latest City charges news and updates...
What Phil Foden did after scoring offers clear hint that Man City can get their wish
Phil Foden took his seat among the subs and puffed out his cheeks. It had been a while.
The 26-year-old was playing his first minutes since that red card at Old Trafford a month ago but of more significance was the City man finding the net for the first time in more than 10 months.
His last goal in blue came in a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on December 14, that was so long ago that three of his fellow midfielders that day have left the club, there's a different City manager, a different Prime Minister and bananas were just a fruit we ate rather than a matchday accessory.

A report from Football Insider claims Man City will be informed of their punishment by the end of the 2026-27 season. The club have appealed the original guilty verdict and maintain their innocence.
The report says it's difficult to put an official date on when those sanctions may land, if the club's appeal is unsuccessful, but that it's likely to be this season.
Speaking to BBC Sport, James Severn, Member of the London Solicitor Litigation Association (LSLA) and Partner at Penningtons Manches Cooper, said Man City's appeal is "not simply an opportunity to invite a new panel" to get the verdict overturned.
"City will need to identify a material error of law, principle or fact, or serious procedural unfairness, which materially affected the Commission's decision," Severn said.
"The Appeal Board nevertheless has broad powers to allow or dismiss the appeal, vary the decision or make any other order it considers appropriate."
