Liverpool could be back in the transfer market for another big-money signing, with Fabrizio Romano providing an update on their interest in one of the Premier League’s most exciting midfielders.
The Reds spent heavily once again during the summer, bringing in several new faces as the club looked to build a squad capable of getting back to the top.
However, despite the money already spent, there are still concerns that Liverpool’s squad is a little thin in certain areas.
Injuries have already shown how quickly those problems can become an issue, with Iraola having to manage his options carefully during a busy run of fixtures.
Having lost both Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong in their latest fixture, these concerns have only deepened.
Because of this, Liverpool could now look to strengthen their midfield, with Bournemouth reportedly prepared to consider a huge offer for one of their key players.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Bournemouth are expected to consider proposals around the £100 million mark, with the player potentially on the move in 2027.
That player is Alex Scott, who has become one of the most talked-about young midfielders in English football after some impressive performances for Bournemouth.
Romano has suggested that a move could happen as early as January, although a summer transfer in 2027 remains another possibility.
Chelsea are believed to be leading the race, but Liverpool are ‘still keen’ on signing the 23-year-old.
It would be a huge amount of money for Liverpool to spend, but Scott has shown why he is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in the country.
The midfielder joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 and has continued to improve since arriving on the south coast.
Scott has also taken a big step forward on the international stage.
He made his senior England debut during the October international break before being handed his first start against Croatia.
England went on to win that game 7-0, with Scott impressing in midfield alongside Elliot Anderson.
Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on his situation, particularly with questions still being asked about the depth of their squad.
There is no guarantee that the Reds will make a move in January, especially given the size of the fee involved.
However, with Chelsea also interested, Liverpool may need to act if they want to get a deal over the line.
Scott is certainly one to watch over the coming months, with his future at Bournemouth looking increasingly uncertain.
