Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed defender Nuno Mendes will miss Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

Mendes picked up the injury at the weekend while playing for PSG against Strasbourg and is now set for some time on the sidelines.

“Having sustained an injury to his left thigh during last night’s match against RC Strasbourg Alsace, Nuno Mendes will be unavailable for the coming weeks,” read a club statement.

Mendes is a key player for the Champions League holders and has previously been described by Lamine Yamal as one of the toughest opponents he has faced in his career.

The injury means that former Barcelona defender Lucas Digne could well come into the team and take on Yamal instead on Tuesday night.

Digne spent two years at Camp Nou earlier in his career before heading to the Premier League for spells with Everton and Aston Villa.

The full-back then completed a switch to PSG in the summer transfer window.
