Liverpool have been linked with some of the best young talents in world football, and Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora has been attracting plenty of attention since the summer.
Gilberto Mora is regarded as one of Mexico’s brightest talents, having made his first-team debut for Club Tijuana at just 15 years old.
The attacking midfielder has continued to impress since then, earning international recognition and attracting interest from several major European clubs.
Liverpool are believed to be among those interested in signing the teenager, with reports suggesting the Reds had made an offer worth around £37 million for his services.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and several other European sides have also been linked with the youngster.
The reports gathered further momentum when ESPN journalist Leon Lecanda claimed a ‘historic agreement’ with a major European club could be announced on October 14, the day Mora turned 18.
However, his agent Rafaela Pimenta refused to give anything away when asked about the speculation.
“Please understand that I don’t comment on transfer rumours. I won’t say anything at all about the transfer of any player. Thank you very much for your understanding,” she said.
But, Mora has now given Liverpool supporters a reason to keep an eye on his situation.
In a video posted on X, a Tijuana fan can be heard shouting “Liverpool” at the youngster while waving a Reds shirt in his direction.
Mora appeared to acknowledge the gesture by giving a thumbs-up, sparking further excitement among supporters who would love to see him move to Anfield.
Of course, the interaction does not confirm that a transfer is on the cards, and the youngster may simply have been responding to a fan.
Nevertheless, with Liverpool reportedly interested in his signature and a substantial fee being discussed, the video is likely to fuel further speculation about his future.
The Reds have continued to look towards promising young players, and Mora would represent another exciting prospect if they were able to secure his services.
His reaction to the Liverpool chant may have been brief, but it has certainly caught attention.
