From Chelsea to Celtic: Son of former Super Eagles defender makes professional debut

Landon Emanalo, the son of former Super Eagles defender Michael Emenalo, made his professional debut for Celtic in their emphatic 7-1 victory over Hearts on Sunday afternoon at Celtic Park.

The teenage defender joined the Scottish champions on loan from Premier League side Chelsea before the end of the summer transfer window.

However, following the completion of the deal, Emanalo was unable to link up with his new teammates immediately due to fitness issues, delaying his opportunity to make an impression at the club.

After working his way back to fitness, the youngster joined Celtic in training last week ahead of their UEFA Europa League clash against Benfica.

Emanalo eventually made his long-awaited senior debut against Hearts on Sunday, coming on in the second half of the comprehensive victory.

The young defender replaced former Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney on the hour mark, receiving the opportunity to showcase his abilities in front of the Celtic supporters.

Emenalo made the most of his minutes on the pitch, demonstrating his potential with energetic runs down the left flank while also delivering a solid defensive performance.

The debut marks an important step in Emanalo's development as he begins his spell with the Scottish champions.

The youngster will now be eager to build on his first appearance, impress manager Martin O'Neill and demonstrate that he is ready to compete at senior level.
