Steve Kerr Says Stephen Curry Is “Fine” Following Injury Scare At Practice

The Warriors’ injury woes appear to be worsening, as franchise star Stephen Curry exited Sunday’s open practice after slipping and appearing to tweak his right knee during a scrimmage, per Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports (Twitter video link).

He limped off the court and initially tried to walk off the injury before heading back to the Warriors locker room, Nick Friedell of The Athletic adds (Twitter video link). The injury appeared to be a non-contact situation, Friedell adds (Twitter link), making it even more concerning. The star point guard attempted to make a turn and immediately felt something in his knee, Friedell writes for The Athletic (subscriber link).

However, after practice, head coach Steve Kerr said that the injury was an ankle tweak, rather than a knee injury, and that he expects Curry to be fine, though he declined to elaborate, per Friedell (Twitter video link).

If the injury is, in fact, to Curry’s ankle and not a non-contact knee injury, that would be very positive news for the team, as the Warriors continue to try to field a competitive team in the West despite Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody, and Kristaps Porzingis all being unavailable due to health issues.
