‘Been knocked down before’: Ben Simmons provides update following season-ending Achilles injury image
Australian basketball star Ben Simmons has provided a heartfelt update following confirmation his 2026/27 NBA return with the Sacramento Kings is over before the season has begun due to a torn Achilles tendon suffered in training over the weekend.
Posting on Instagram, the 30-year-old declared he will be back.
“I’ve faced challenges before that tested me mentally, physically, and emotionally, and I’ve found a way through every single one of them,” Simmons wrote.
“This injury is another chapter in my journey, not the end of my story.
“It’s never easy being away from the game I love, especially after everything it took to get back here. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that adversity doesn’t define you. How you respond to it does.
“I’ve been knocked down before, and I’ve always found a way to get back up. This time will be no different.”
The injury is brutal blow for the former No.1 Draft pick, given Simmons had shown impressive preseason form and seemed set for a strong campaign for the Kings who will now be without a key piece of their 2026/27 roster for the entire NBA season which begins later this week.
