Cason Wallace, OKC Thunder sign rookie extension

Cason Wallace and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Monday deadline to agree to a potential rookie-scale contract extension.

The 10th overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Wallace immediately established himself as a robust piece of the Thunder core with his defense and reliability, helping OKC win it all back in the 2024-25 season.

Wallace averaged 8.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game across 77 appearances (58 starts) last season. Tallying a career-best 1.9 steals, he was named a member of the 2025-26 NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

With the trade departure of Lu Dort this past offseason, Wallace is now a starter and OKC's backcourt partner to two-time MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Wallace and OKC will open their 2026-27 season on Tuesday in San Antonio against the Spurs.
