Brandon Miller gets positive update on potential new Hornets contract

Brandon Miller is projected to be next in line to receive a new rookie-scale contract in the NBA.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Miller is a "top contender" for a potential rookie extension ahead of Monday's deadline.

"League sources continue to pinpoint Charlotte's Brandon Miller as the top contender to join a club that, to this point, features only Wallace, San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama, Utah's Keyonte George, Golden State's Brandin Podziemski and twins Amen Thompson (Houston) and Ausar Thompson (Detroit)," Stein wrote.

Brandon Miller up next for rookie extension with Hornets?

The No. 2 pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, Brandon Miller is currently eligible for a rookie-scale contract extension with the Charlotte Hornets.

He can land a new deal worth up to a maximum of $275 million over five years. Previously, it was revealed that Miller is seeking at least near these figures in his new Charlotte deal.

Miller averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game for the Hornets during the 2025-26 regular season. He and Kon Knueppel are expected to lead Charlotte's new era following the offseason trade of LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The NBA rookie scale extension deadline hits at exactly 5:00 PM CT on Monday.
