INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Colts had a 13-point lead at halftime but couldn’t hold on, giving up 20 straight points in a 26-20 loss to the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday.
Indianapolis looked in control early, taking a 13-0 lead behind a one-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to Mo Alie-Cox and two field goals from Spencer Shrader. Cam Bynum also intercepted Tennessee quarterback Cam Ward to help set up a score.
The second half was a different story. Jonathan Taylor fumbled on the opening play, and Jones threw his second interception on the next drive. Tennessee turned both turnovers into field goals, then tied the game after Chimere Dike returned a punt 58 yards to set up an eight-yard touchdown pass from Ward to Carnell Tate.
The Colts handed Tennessee the lead moments later when a blocked punt turned into a 14-yard touchdown return by Oluwafemi Oladejo.
Taylor gave Indianapolis a chance to escape with a win, scoring on a four-yard run to tie the game at 20 with five and a half minutes left. But Joey Slye hit a 49-yard field goal to put Tennessee back in front, then added another from 44 yards with less than a minute remaining.
The loss drops the Colts to 2-4 and marks their second straight defeat. Indianapolis has committed eight more turnovers than its opponents this season.
The Colts head to Minnesota next week before visiting Jacksonville on November 1.
