Former Everton centre-forward Duncan Ferguson has recently criticised Everton in the media.
Duncan Ferguson has been in the news of late as he’s set to be confirmed as the new manager of Northern Irish side Glentoran.
Ferguson has also been appearing in the media recently and was a guest on the Overlap Daily podcast.
That said, the 54-year-old passionately discussed a transfer blunder that Everton made during the summer of 2025.
It's a first defeat of the season for Everton as they lose 2-0 to Chelsea 😡 Give us YOUR reaction 👇
@p.molloy236 it's been the same for a long time he is to set in his ways and and are players are not good enough not fit enough not quick enough and unless theire a vast change we will be lucky to finish with 35 points
@anthonymanley1956 I agree. Why not Alcaraz, Dibling, Hackney, or Graham for uselss Barry?
Barry didn't have a clue where or what to do yesterday! Can't pass, tackle, or hold up play; always offside. Misses sitter after sitter. give young Graham a chance
Duncan Ferguson can’t believe Everton let Dominic Calvert-Lewin leave
Back in 2025, Dominic Calvert-Lewin walked out the doors of Finch Farm as a free agent as Everton allowed his contract to run out.
There were reportedly discussions over a new deal, but ultimately, Calvert-Lewin departed for Leeds United.
The former Toffee has been a roaring success at Elland Road, as he scored 14 Premier League goals in his debut season. He’s already scored four league goals this term and is back in the England squad.
Ferguson has now come out and criticised the decision-makers at Everton for letting Calvert-Lewin go.
“We should never have let Dominic go. I said it, I’ve coached Dominic from a young man, I’ve put him in my team. He scored his first two goals ever in the same game for the game I managed against Chelsea.
“I put him up front. He’s a great player, he’s a great player. They should never ever have let him go, ever. But obviously I don’t know what’s happened behind the scenes.
“If he wanted £200,000-a-week, give him £200,000-a-week. If he wanted £100,000-a-week, give him it. So if they’re giving him £4.8m as a wage… a couple of years… I rate him.
“He’s 6ft 3, he’s quick, he’s got a lovely finish on him, he gets in there in that six-yard box. Tremendous leap… what a leap. He’s Unbelievable in the air.”
Thierno Barry came in as Calvert-Lewin’s replacement last year, and he’s blown hot and cold so far. Clearly, Calvert-Lewin is a more polished number nine.
However, perhaps he needed a fresh start to really reignite his career.
