"I would be very worried..."- New concerning Liverpool claim emerges amid injury crisis

_“A lot of their problems will only get worse if they suffer new injuries, especially in midfield and up front, because the players who are absent now have exposed them a bit._

_“If Liverpool want to be a side who can compete for major silverware, they need to have a much deeper squad than they do at the moment, and that’s going to be a problem.”_

**Do Liverpool need to make new signings in January?**

There was always a chance that injuries would happen for Liverpool in 2026/27, especially as players adjusted to Andoni Iraola’s style of play, which makes the club’s decision not to add more signings in the summer even more baffling.

Granted, they don’t have a bottomless pit of money, and they spent big on Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak in 2025, but additions were required at right-back and in midfield, and arguably centre-back as well.

But Liverpool didn’t strengthen there, and now with Szoboszlai and Frimpong both unavailable during a busy period, it will stretch Iraola’s squad to the limit.

Conor Bradley is still absent, as well as the likes of Giovanni Leoni and Hugo Ekitike, and the sooner they can all return from long-term absences, the better.

This is still a strong Liverpool squad compared to some, but if they are to go deep in the Champions League this season, for example, they will need the vast majority of their key players to stay fit.
