Bradley Barcola has started to repay Liverpool’s faith in him, delivering decisive contributions in back-to-back matches after a slow start to life at Anfield.

The France international scored a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 6-3 win over LASK in the Champions League on 14 October, his first goals for the club since his summer move from Paris Saint-Germain.

He struck twice before half-time and added a third in the 66th minute, with Ronald Araujo, Jeremie Frimpong and Lewis Koumas also on the scoresheet in Linz.

Three days later, Barcola registered his first Premier League goal involvement, setting up Alexander Isak for the winner as Liverpool came from behind to beat Brentford 2-1 at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Keane Lewis-Potter had given Brentford a surprise lead in first-half stoppage time, only for Yehor Yarmoliuk to be sent off moments later for headbutting Jérémy Jacquet.

Liverpool made their numerical advantage count after the break: Víctor Munoz levelled from Florian Wirtz’s pass in the 62nd minute, before Isak struck in the 70th, finishing from Barcola’s knockdown following Alexis Mac Allister’s back-post cross.

Vitaly Janelt was then sent off late on for a second yellow card, leaving Brentford to finish with nine men.

The win lifted Liverpool above Brentford and into fifth place in the Premier League table.

Barcola’s improving form comes as he continues adjusting to life in England following his €140 million (£123 million) move from PSG in August.

Speaking to French broadcaster Telefoot, the 24-year-old said he is still adapting to a different tactical environment at Liverpool compared with his time working under Luis Enrique in Paris.

“I am trying to adapt because it is very different to Paris Saint-Germain,” Barcola said.

“The Premier League? It is different. I find that it is less tactical. In any case, we (PSG) had a very, very tactical manager (Luis Enrique), but I find that it is less tactical; there are fewer changes on the pitch.”

Barcola explained that his role at PSG required constant positional interchange, something he has not experienced to the same degree under Andoni Iraola.

“It is true that, with my former manager, I had to come inside, play down the wing, someone else would then take my position. Here, it is very different,” he said.

« C’est vraiment très différent du PSG…La Premier League, je trouve que c’est moins tactique. »
