nfl rumors

After being ruled out for the rest of the 2026 season, the latest NFL rumors could intensify surrounding veteran quarterback Jalen Hurts. The former second-round pick will miss the rest of the season after doctors found multiple blood clots in the veteran’s lungs. The QB will undergo treatment for three months, but the Eagles are under fire for how they’ve handled the injury this season. Reportedly, the veteran was forced to stay awake for 36 hours after his blood-clot diagnosis, during which they found he had deep vein thrombosis. However, the Eagles started the former 2020 draft selection in the London matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars; fans have argued he should have been ruled out after the initial diagnosis.

With Philadelphia’s front office expected to face criticism, they could face a larger issue. Fans are calling for a lawsuit, but as of this posting, the veteran QB has not officially responded. The veteran’s agent, Nicole Lynn, released a statement detailing his condition:

“Jalen’s prognosis is very good, and we expect a full recovery,” the statement said. “We anticipate that he will have the opportunity to resume contact football activities when off the blood thinners.”

Lawsuit Loading or Trade Request?

While Lynn is confident the quarterback will fully recover, there’s no guarantee he will. The veteran’s original $255 million contract extension signed in 2023 runs through the 2028 season. The Eagles aren’t interested in trading the QB, but he’s been rumored to be on the trade block if he doesn’t improve following the 2025 season.

However, the QB may still have leverage, though requesting a trade may be difficult. If the Eagles wait until after June 1, 2027, Philadelphia would save over $21M by trading him. It’s early to decipher what could happen over the next few months, but if he doesn’t recover in time for Week 1 of the 2027 season, the Eagles may trade him.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia attempted to bring back veteran backup Andy Dalton, but he politely declined and signed with the Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles signed former Dallas Cowboys backup Joe Milton off the practice squad, but he has not started a full game with them yet. On the uglier side, Philadelphia could face punishment, as many NFL fans across the league have reacted to Hurts’ blood-clot diagnosis.

Fans Reaction

Why should Jalen Hurts even want to play for an organization that could’ve ended his life once he recovers from this

Future Outlook

The veteran is expected back next offseason, but no guarantees. It’s too early to say that Hurts’ NFL career is over, but if he can’t stay off blood thinners, he could be forced to call it. The Eagles may trade the veteran if they find their next successor in the NFL Draft or trade market, but they are staying patient in the QB’s recovery. Hypothetically, two teams could be interested in the QB next season if he becomes available in 2027.

Potential Next Teams

Los Angeles Chargers

The Los Angeles Chargers are 0-6 with one of the worst offenses in the last decade led by first-year offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Veteran Justin Herbert could request a trade after having his worst season as a QB. Realistically, the Eagles and Chargers could work out a deal, but that would mean firing head coach Jim Harbaugh. First, the Chargers will probably relieve McDaniel of his duties, but Herbert joining Philadelphia while Hurts arrives in LA sounds like a fair trade for both sides.

Indianapolis Colts

Meanwhile, after an embarrassing loss against the winless Titans, the Indianapolis Colts fired GM Chris Ballard. Major offensive changes could be underway if the Colts don’t improve, including head coach Shane Steichen’s future. If Steichen is gone, veteran QB Daniel Jones could follow despite re-signing a two-year extension this past offseason.

If so, the Colts could begin their rebuild led by Hurts and a new head coaching staff.
