Barcelona star could be used in a new position vs PSG

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick could be forced into emergency measures at the back in the club’s upcoming showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.

This comes amid the understanding that midfield standout Rodri could be forced to drop into a centre-back role at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday evening.

Barcelona are of course currently in the thick of final preparations for an altogether high-profile Champions League clash with former boss Luis Enrique’s PSG.

The Blaugrana’s plans for the matchup were rocked over the weekend, however, upon no fewer than three members of the club’s defensive ranks suffering fitness setbacks.

En route to a 5-2 La Liga victory over Real Betis, Barca saw Eric García, Jules Koundé and Gerard Martín pick up injuries. The latter, as things stand, is the only one considered to be in with a shot of recovering in time to feature in France’s capital.

Should this not prove the case, though, emergency measures may need to be taken. As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, with Andreas Christensen also condemned to the sidelines at present:

‘One option Flick could pull out of his hat is playing Rodrigo Hernández at centre-back.’
