Micah Parsons will have to wait longer to return to the field for the Green Bay Packers. The star pass rusher remains sidelined as he works his way back from a serious knee injury suffered last season.
Parsons opened the 2026 NFL season on the physically unable to perform list while recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus damage. Although the Packers have reported progress in his rehabilitation, he has yet to receive medical clearance to resume practicing.
Head coach Matt LaFleur provided another update Monday, outlining the team’s plans for the coming week and leaving open the possibility of a return to practice soon.

LaFleur confirmed that Parsons will not practice this week as the Packers continue waiting for him to clear the necessary medical evaluations. However, the coach has not ruled out the possibility of Parsons returning to practice next week, even with Green Bay facing a Thursday night game in Week 8.
“He’s got to clear some hurdles yet to get to that point,” LaFleur said, via USA Today’s Ryan Wood.

The update means Parsons will remain on the sidelines for now, with no confirmed date for his return to practice. The Packers will need to assess his progress before determining when he can begin working toward a return to game action.
Parsons continues recovery from ACL and meniscus injuries
Parsons tore his ACL last December and subsequently underwent reconstructive knee surgery. He also needed meniscus repair, adding to the rehabilitation required before he can return to football.
The five-time Pro Bowler recorded 12.5 sacks in 14 games during his first season with Green Bay before suffering the injury. His return would strengthen a Packers defense that has been without one of its most disruptive pass rushers.
LaFleur previously told reporters that Parsons must complete medical testing and rebuild strength and stamina in his injured leg before returning. Once cleared, he will also need time to ramp up his football activities.
The Packers enter Week 7 at 4-2 after defeating the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 on “Sunday Night Football.”
