Superstar Wide Receiver Out For Extended Period Of Time
The Los Angeles Rams have suffered another significant setback, as star wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to miss six to 10 weeks with a serious hamstring injury.
Head coach Sean McVay announced Monday that Adams suffered a ruptured semitendinosus, a hamstring muscle injury, during Sunday’s 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. The 33-year-old appeared to get hurt on a noncontact play late in the game while running a route toward the end zone. He pulled up, appeared to be in pain and made his way to the sideline.
It’s a tough blow for a Rams offense that has relied heavily on Adams’ ability to make plays downfield and find the end zone. Through six games this season, the veteran has recorded 30 receptions for 480 yards and four touchdowns. His 16.0 yards per catch has been particularly impressive, and he has continued to produce as one of the league’s most accomplished receivers.

Adams’ absence will leave a major hole in the passing game alongside All-Pro receiver Puka Nacua. While Nacua remains a key target for quarterback Matthew Stafford, the Rams will need other receivers to step up during Adams’ extended absence. Konata Mumpfield, Jordan Whittington and Tutu Atwell are among the options available to help fill the void.
McVay acknowledged the challenge of losing a player of Adams’ caliber, making it clear that the team will have to adjust rather than expect one player to replace everything he brings to the offense.
The injury is also a frustrating setback for Adams, who missed three games late last season because of a hamstring injury before returning for the playoffs. This latest issue could keep him sidelined for a substantial portion of the remainder of the regular season, depending on his recovery.
The Rams have more than one injury to worry about, too. Defensive tackle Poona Ford suffered a ruptured triceps that will end his season, while defensive tackle Kobie Turner is expected to miss several weeks with a groin injury. Kicker Blake Grupe also landed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL.
Los Angeles now faces the challenge of regrouping after a disappointing loss and a growing list of injuries. With Adams expected to be out for six to 10 weeks, the Rams will need their remaining playmakers to take on bigger roles as they try to get their season back on track.
