Just days before the Timberwolves tip off the new season, they’ve extended the contract of one of their most valuable players.
Agent Bill Duffy told KSTP that Jaden McDaniels agreed to a one-year, $40 million extension that will keep him under contract through the 2029-30 season.
In October 2023, McDaniels signed a fully guaranteed, five-year, $136 million extension with no player or team options.

The forward from Washington has cemented himself as one of the Wolves’ key pieces over his six seasons with the team, which have included two trips to the Western Conference Finals.
In 439 career games, McDaniels has averaged 11.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.9 blocks. He was also named to the NBA’s All-Defensive Second Team in the 2023-24 season.
The Timberwolves kick off the regular season with a matchup against the Miami Heat on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
