Former Los Angeles Lakers big man Drew Timme has found a new NBA home just days before the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Phoenix Suns claimed Timme off waivers after he was released by the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Phoenix subsequently placed the 26-year-old on a two-way contract.
Timme spent last season with the Lakers, appearing in 27 games (one start) and averaging 3.4 points and 1.2 rebounds in a limited role.
The former Gonzaga standout also spent time with the South Bay Lakers in the G League while on his two-way deal with Los Angeles.
His time with the Lakers followed his NBA breakthrough with the Brooklyn Nets during the 2024-25 season. Timme played nine games for Brooklyn, starting twice, and produced 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
Over his first two NBA seasons with Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Timme has appeared in 36 games and averaged 5.6 points and 2.7 rebounds.

Timme joined Minnesota on a training-camp deal in September and appeared in four preseason games before being waived on Saturday.
During the preseason, he averaged 6.0 points and 1.5 rebounds in 10.8 minutes per contest, while shooting 64.3% from the field and 40% from the three-point range.
Timme went undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft despite a decorated four-year career at Gonzaga, where he became a three-time All-American.
Before reaching the NBA, he spent significant time in the G League, playing for the Wisconsin Herd, Stockton Kings, and Long Island Nets.
The Suns, meanwhile, open the 2026-27 regular season on Wednesday in Portland against the Trail Blazers.
