‘This Is A Huge Blow’ ‘Blessing In Disguise’ Fans React As Man City Ace Is Ruled Out For 14 Games

Man City boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Antoine Semenyo has been ruled out for up to two months with a knee injury.

The Ghanaian international limped off against Ipswich Town at the weekend, and when asked for an update on his fitness, Maresca said:

‘In the first moment, we expected a worse injury. After yesterday’s scan, we will feel better. It will be eight weeks, so when he is back in December, it will be like a new player.”

There has been a mixed reaction to the news on X. Some fans think Semenyo’s absence is a major setback, while others feel it will give others the chance to step up to the plate:

Semenyo could miss at least 14 games

The winger may not return before mid-December, and that means he could be sidelined for the Premier League fixtures against Aston Villa (a), Brighton (h), Nottingham Forest (a), Fulham (h), Arsenal (a), Leeds (h), Brentford (a), Chelsea (h) and Hull (h).

Semenyo is also expected to be absent for four Champions League matches versus AEK Athens (h), RB Leipzig (a), Napoli (h) and Barcelona (a), as well as the Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Brighton later this month.

The forward could potentially make his comeback at St James’ Park against Newcastle United on Boxing Day if his recovery goes to plan.

Latest Man City injury news

Erling Haaland also sustained an injury against Ipswich, along with Semenyo. The Norwegian has a foot problem, which means he is touch and go for the clash against AEK, along with Nico O’Reilly, who is still carrying a back issue.

However, Mateo Kovacic (knock) and Matheus Nunes (knock) are expected to be available for the match at the Etihad on Tuesday night.
