PSG Team News
Luis Enrique ran out a much-changed side against Strasbourg, so expect a strong lineup when PSG face Barcelona. Willian Pacho, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Achraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue were either unused substitutes or came off the bench against Strasbourg. Marquinhos wasn’t in the squad this weekend to manage his workload.
During his pre-match press conference, Enrique was quizzed about Nuno Mendes, who misses the game due to injury, and how this will affect playing against Lamine Yamal. He said, “The best way to defend against Lamine Yamal is to have the ball. If you have the ball all the time, then Lamine Yamal cannot have the ball, and everything is calm” and also noted the importance of defending as a team.
Barcelona Team News
Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji will both miss the trip to Paris with injuries, and Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia and Gerard Martin face late fitness tests after suffering knocks against Real Betis this weekend.
Discussing the centre-back options for PSG vs Barcelona, Hansi Flick said: “We have options. Frenkie can play, and Álex Campos is with us too. I am sure everything will be fine. Perhaps the timing is not ideal, but we have to accept it.”
On Kounde, the German coach is optimistic: “We hope Jules will be ready”.
Flick did confirm one man who will be in the starting lineup, Brazil’s Raphinha, stating, “Yes, he is fine. He will be in the starting line-up.”

The Last Word: Prediction
In what promises fireworks, having the two best teams in the competition meet so early in the season is exciting. Both sides will head into this one full of confidence and expect to keep their winning runs up. Hansi Flick’s attack will need to be at its blistering best, and the battle between Yamal and PSG’s second-choice left-back Lucas Digne could be pivotal.
Expect goals. Both teams are free-scoring in the league and have also bagged 19 goals between them in four games.
Prediction: PSG 3 – 2 Barcelona
