KARL-ANTHONY TOWNS had one helluva summer. He kicked it off by helping the New York Knicks win their first NBA championship in over 50 years and ended it by getting married to model and entrepreneur Jordyn Woods in August. Add that to a career featuring six All-Star appearances and three All-NBA selections, and it’s fair to wonder where else the former first overall pick has to go. Ahead of the 2026 season opener, we caught up with the man called KAT on what’s keeping him motivated, focused, and confident heading into the new season.

On game days, the 7-footer says that he showers three or four times throughout the day, so using something soothing in there helps:. “That moment in the shower is especially important because I don't know where the madness the rest of the day has [in store] for me, but I know in that moment, that’s my moment,” he says.

Towns has used a Nike bag from his AAU days through last season’s championship run. “It's something that's been with me my whole career and has held me down when I needed it the most,” he says. Something beyond workout gear he always has in there is cologne. “I was always told by my mom to smell good… so I always got something to make sure I smell good.”
