The 2026 NFL season is turning the page on Week 6, and Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen has some serious competition in the league’s MVP race. The current NFL MVP odds are as close as they’ve been this campaign, and Allen’s gap at the top is shrinking.

The Bills picked up another dramatic win over the weekend after taking down the Las Vegas Raiders, and for that reason, Allen still leads the MVP odds at +200. However, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has his team undefeated through six weeks, and he’s playing stellar in Kyle Shanahan’s offense.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes continues his surge in the conversation, while young signal callers like Drake Maye, Jordan Love and Trevor Lawrence are also rising. The most intriguing name to watch though is Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker.

This season, Walker leads the NFL with 665 rushing yards and he’s recorded eight total touchdowns in just five games for Kansas City. The free agent signing has proven to be a massive addition after winning Super Bowl 60 with Seattle.

The NFL MVP favorite after 6 weeks… BROCK. PURDY. 😤 https://t.co/ok1GKD9E63

Don’t look now, but the Green Bay Packers have one of the top offenses in the NFL. For that reason, Love is a prime candidate to put up massive numbers and win games for the Packers.

He’s passed for over 300 yards on three occasions in 2026. Meanwhile, Love’s 11 touchdown passes puts him tied for seventh in the league, just three behind Kirk Cousins, Lawrence and Purdy.

Another name to watch is Walker, especially considering the Chiefs are the best team in the AFC and he looks like an even bigger star than Mahomes right now. Running backs have a tougher time getting MVP shine, but if his current pace continues, he’ll break Eric Dickerson’s single-single rushing record and top 2,200 yards in 2026.
