Ogunnaike trains with Arsenal first team ahead of UCL clash with Bayern Munich

Nigeria-eligible left-back Josh Ogunnaike joined Arsenal's first-team training session ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Ogunnaike has impressed Gunners manager Mikel Arteta following a series of outstanding performances with the club’s youth side, earning an opportunity to train alongside the senior players as Arsenal prepare for the crucial European fixture.

The teenage left-back has been impressive for the young Gunners, scoring one goal in two appearances in the UEFA Youth League this season.

Despite his performances at youth level, Ogunnaike is yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal.

His presence in the session also offers the Spanish tactician another option at left-back, despite the return of Colombian defender Piero Hincapié to training.

Hincapié, who enjoyed an impressive debut campaign with the Gunners last season, has struggled to maintain consistency since the start of the current campaign due to a combination of poor form and injuries.

Meanwhile, Ogunnaike will be keen to convince Arteta of his abilities during training and hopes to earn an opportunity to feature for the first team, with the ultimate aim of making his senior debut for Arsenal.
