How Aday Mara's height, weight, wingspan compare to Victor Wembanyama image
Before the 2026 NBA Draft even took place, many were high on Aday Mara out of Michigan. He is a gigantic player, so naturally, he drew comparisons to San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama.
With Mara's size, the newest Oklahoma City Thunder big man was immediately billed as a potential "Wemby stopper." Is he built for the task?
Here's how Mara compares to Wemby physically.
Comparing Aday Mara and Victor Wembanyama's height, weight, and wingspan
Since 2023, Wembanyama's physical traits have been at the forefront. In the official listings, Wembanyama stands at 7-4, has a wingspan of 8 feet and weighs around 235 pounds.
You might think someone that size would be glued to the paint, but that's not the case.
Wembanyama is the league's most unique player because he can play on the perimeter like a shooting guard or small forward. He makes everything look absurd and ends up dominating the game on both ends of the floor.

As showcased in the 2025-26 season, Wembanyama can carry his team to success. To no surprise, that has resulted in teams adding their own giants to compete with Wembanyama.
It seems the Thunder just got that by picking Mara, who was a standout at Michigan. Physically, he can match up with Wembanyama. He is a tad shorter at 7-3, but he has a 7-6 wingspan and weighs around 255 pounds.

7-4 Height 7-3
235lb Weight 255lb
8-feet Wingspan 7-6

This is certainly a fun comparison to make because Mara does have the tools to become the primary Wemby stopper. He is deceptively quick on his feet, so Wembanyama might be surprised by how quick Mara can be when playing defense.
With his similar wingspan and a weight advantage, Mara has the tools to guard Wembanyama. It will be interesting to see how they will play against each other, as Mara could be the Thunder's solution to slowing Wembanyama down after their competitive series in the 2026 Playoffs.
