MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Men’s Basketball Head Coach Penny Hardaway spoke to the Memphis Rotary Club Tuesday, just days before the new college basketball season begins.
Hardaway said it is a tough time for Memphis sports, citing Ja Morant’s departure from the Grizzlies and the Tigers’ disappointing season. He said his focus now is getting his team back to winning basketball.
“But there has to be an understanding of where we are and what’s going and I think it should be a unified effort from the media to the staff to the administration to the players to the city all together to make this thing work and get to where we really want to go,” Hardaway said.
Hardaway said his players are working hard and putting in the work every day to “fight and grind” just like the city.
