With Philadelphia having a lost season, in the latest Eagles rumors, the team could trade superstar running back Saquon Barkley ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 10 deadline. Barkley, a former first-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, joined the Eagles in 2024, where he won a Super Bowl that same season, recording historic numbers, including 2,283 yards from scrimmage. While The Athletic’s Zach Berman penned that trading the running back would be a “tough debate,” the Eagles will be without starter QB Jalen Hurts, who was found to have multiple blood clots in his lungs. Realistically, the Eagles can still win the NFC East, especially after their divisional rivals have lost back-to-back weeks.

On the other side, Philadelphia tried to re-sign veteran Andy Dalton, but agreed to reach terms with the Atlanta Falcons. Although the Eagles signed former Dallas Cowboys backup Joe Milton off their practice squad, sixth-rounder Tanner McKee remains the starter. McKee and Milton will probably battle for starting duties, but unless they trade for a quarterback like Mac Jones, the Eagles’ 2026 season is done.

Trade Value + Timeline

The Eagles aren’t giving up their premium player unless they get a strong return. The running back will turn 30 in February, and while injuries slowed him down last season, he’s still considered a consistent ball-carrier. CBS Sports’ Carter Bahns believes the star could join the Seattle Seahawks, who are eyeing another Super Bowl led by QB Sam Darnold. The fit makes sense since neither Zach Charbonnet nor Jadarian Price has established themselves as the No. 1 running back.

Barkley is still expected to generate interest from several teams. How much could he cost? The Eagles may require a second-round pick for the veteran downhill runner. However, the running back trade timeline depends on the next few weeks. If the Eagles drop their next two matchups, including the Monday Night bout against the Dallas Cowboys, they’ll likely entertain a trade.

After all, Hurts won’t return until next season, but that’s still 50/50, especially with what the future holds for the Eagles. The NFL won’t punish the Eagles after allowing Hurts to play despite the blood-clot diagnosis, but the incident might be enough evidence for players like the star running back to seek a trade.

Potential Landing Spots

Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard remains the unquestioned starter, especially after backup Jonathon Brooks suffered multiple injuries this season. Brooks will return, but faces an uphill battle to win the starting job. The Panthers have proven to be an elite NFC contender and could go “all in” to win a Super Bowl led by QB Bryce Young. They have all of their pieces, offensively and defensively, and perhaps Barkley could be the final solution to share ground reps with Hubbard.

Denver Broncos

Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos are expected in the upcoming postseason. After trading for Jaylen Waddle this past offseason, all there may be left is a superstar running back, and Barkley could fill that role. The Broncos re-signed veteran JK Dobbins to a two-year extension, but RJ Harvey is the presumed future of this downhill running game. Denver could bring in the former New York Giant for its Super Bowl push, especially to elevate Bo Nix’s offense if they reach the AFC Championship Game again.

New England Patriots

Like Denver, the New England Patriots could look to strengthen its roster ahead of the Nov. 1o trade deadline. After losing to Seattle in last season’s Super Bowl, head coach Mike Vrabel could be aggressive here. The Patriots have shared their snaps between TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson. Unfortunately, Stevenson isn’t a superstar, but Henderson is. Perhaps New England could pair Barkley with Henderson to give Drake Maye a massive boost in the backfield.
