The Los Angeles Lakers released their injury report for Wednesday’s season opener against the Golden State Warriors and Collin Sexton (right soleus strain) is questionable while Adou Thiero (left knee effusion) and Cameron Carr (right oblique strain) are out.

Sexton’s status does not come as a huge surprise as he missed all of preseason with the calf injury. He was able to return to full practice on Monday though and was feeling healthy.

“It felt good. Super excited to be back out there, honestly,” Sexton said. “Just getting out there and getting up and down. Legs felt a little heavy, but it was great. It was definitely a great day, great practice from the team as well. Guys were really competing and I feel like that’s something we have to continue to do whenever we have practice days since we don’t get too many.”

Sexton getting a pair of practices in is a positive sign that he may be able to suit up on Opening Night, albeit in a limited role considering he missed all of preseason.

Thiero and Carr have been dealing withinjuries of their own during training camp and the preseason. Considering it is so early in the year, it makes sense for the Lakers to be cautious with their last two draft picks, although soft issue injuries are always concerning. Thiero, in particular, was hampered by knee injuries in college and throughout his rookie season.

On the Warriors side of things, Stephen Curry (ankle) is probable while Brandin Podziemski (back), Charles Bassey (knee), Jimmy Butler (knee), Moses Moody (knee) andKristaps Porzingis (not with team) are out.

Collin Sexton discusses how he can fit with Lakers

Sexton obviously would have loved to suit up with his teammates this preseason, but he was able to learn some stuff while watching from the sidelines as well.

“I definitely feel like when I’m watching the games, I’m more eager to get out there,” Sexton said. “I’m super excited to get out there and I can see where I can fit in pretty easily. I think even just on the defensive side, bring that energy and that juice and try to disrupt. Not always get someone to turn it over, but just disrupt and bring the clock down. Then offensively, get into the paint. I think that’s something that I’ve done really well in my career. And then spacing. Make sure I’m spacing the floor for guys like Luka, AR, even when. Walker gets it in the pocket. Being ready to shoot from that backside. So just finding ways I can help the team when I’m watching the game.”

Sexton should be a key part of this Lakers team as their primary ball-handler off the bench and someone who can attack the paint to create good looks for himself and others.
