PSG’s worst fears regarding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s (25) right knee injury have been unfortunately confirmed: the Georgian winger has sustained a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee during Tuesday night’s home win against FC Barcelona for Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League. PSG report that Kvaratskhelia will undergo surgery in the coming days.

Although Kvaratskhelia had a low-key start to the season with Les Parisiens, it is a considerable blow for Luis Enrique’s hopes of completing a three-peat in Europe’s premier club competition. Kvaratskhelia is set for an extended spell on the sidelines. No timeline has been set regarding his recovery period, but PSG can expect, at least, a six-month lay-off for Kvaratskhelia.
