Jalen Hurts is expected to miss the rest of the 2026 season after blood clots were discovered in his lungs
The NFL has released a strong statement following the news that Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had blood clots in his lungs, with questions being raised over medical professionals' handling of the quarterback
The Philadelphia Eagles will be without their Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Jalen Hurts, for the remainder of the season after blood clots were found in his lungs, and the NFL franchise is under pressure for explanations.
Hurts first reported a calf issue to medical staff after being cleated during the team's October 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams. An ultrasound on October 10 revealed a superficial blood clot, but doctors cleared him to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London the following day. Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in the Eagles' 19-17 defeat.
However, a follow-up scan on October 14 revealed the clot had moved, ruling Hurts out of the Eagles' October 18 game against the Carolina Panthers. Further examinations subsequently confirmed the diagnosis.
