49ers' Kyle Shanahan Indicates Trade Stance After Concerning Development 1
The San Francisco 49ers keep on winning. In fact, they have not tasted defeat so far in the 2026 NFL season, as they improved to 6-0 after thwarting Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders in Week 6’s 23-17 win at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on Monday.
But the Niners are not without problems. For one, they have an unenviable situation in their wide receiver room, with plenty of hurt bodies in the group.
Star wide receiver Mike Evans just aggravated an Achilles issue in the Commanders game, and it forced him to leave the contest in the first half. He was unable to return to the game, though, he still ended up leading all San Francisco players with 94 receiving yards on three receptions and five targets.
Will The 49ers Address Their Wide Receiver Situation With a Big Trade?

Apart from Evans, the Niners also have Ricky Pearsall, De’Zhaun Stribling, Demarcus Robinson, Deebo Samuel Sr. and Christian Kirk, all with injury designations.
All those players sat out the game against the Commanders. Some of them could potentially return sooner rather than later, but as it stands, San Francisco’s wide receiver unit is far from its best shape.
A trade could help ease the problem in the group for San Francisco, but an acquisition via that route doesn’t seem likely at the moment.
Via Nick Wagoner of ESPN:
All of that attrition would seem to set the stage for a trade, though Shanahan indicated the team might stick with what it has for another week and then see where things stand after the bye.
Nevertheless, San Francisco’s offense has been among the most prolific in the league, putting up 29.5 points and 366.7 total yards per game, both top 10 in the league to date.
Coming up next for the Niners is a Week 7 game against the Atlanta Falcons on the road.
