Prayers Pour In as Former Chiefs Star Tragically Passes Away at 37 (Report) 1
In the NFL, a player’s legacy stays tied to the teams and teammates that shaped his career. When unexpected reports begin circulating, those connections bring renewed attention to a familiar name.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, the latest online discussion has raised questions about a former defensive end. Yet the details behind the reports require careful scrutiny before conclusions can be drawn.
Chiefs Former Defensive End Reportedly Dies at 37
Reports began circulating on October 20, 2026, claiming that former Chiefs defensive end Allen Bailey had died at age 37. The news spread through football communities after a tribute appeared online from former Miami Hurricanes teammate Colin McCarthy.

McCarthy wrote, “Lost a fellow brother today… prayers to AB family! Love you Big Cuzzo.” The message was shared widely, prompting coverage of Bailey’s reported death and his career.

But the reports require a distinction between claims online and verified information. As of October 21, no official statement confirming Bailey’s death had been identified from the Chiefs, the Atlanta Falcons, or his family.
The circumstances and any possible cause also remained unverified. Several outlets published accounts, yet repeated reporting does not establish independent confirmation on its own.
Chiefs Career Established Bailey as a Defensive Contributor
Bailey was born March 25, 1989, on Sapelo Island, Georgia. He attended McIntosh County Academy before playing at the University of Miami, where he earned first-team All-ACC honors in 2009 and second-team recognition in 2010.
Kansas City selected Bailey in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft with the 86th overall pick. He spent eight seasons with the Chiefs from 2011 through 2018, becoming a regular presence on their defensive line.

In November 2014, Kansas City signed Bailey to a four-year extension. The team described him as a developing player who had become an important part of its defense.
He continued with the Atlanta Falcons during the 2019 and 2020 seasons. Atlanta released him in February 2021, bringing his professional playing career to a close.
Bailey’s NFL Numbers and Legacy
Across 133 regular-season games, Bailey recorded 248 combined tackles, 22 sacks, four forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries, according to Pro-Football-Reference. He also appeared in six postseason games with Kansas City.
His path from a small Georgia island to the NFL gave his career a distinctive beginning. His years in Kansas City formed the longest chapter.
For now, the reports about Bailey’s death remain a developing story. Authoritative confirmation is still the missing piece, and anything beyond the tribute and the unanswered questions is speculation.
So the career remains the clearest part of this picture. The rest is still coming into focus.
