Vinicius Junior’s representatives have revealed that the Real Madrid winger seriously considered joining Arsenal during the summer transfer window before deciding to remain in Spain.
The Brazilian was among Arsenal’s leading attacking targets as the Premier League champions explored opportunities to strengthen their options on the left flank.
However, the 26-year-old ultimately committed his future to Real Madrid, signing a contract extension until June 2032 in August.
Speaking to SportsBoom, Roc Nation Sports International president Michael Yormack confirmed that Arsenal made a determined effort to convince Vinicius to move to north London.
“You saw the news; Arsenal was very involved. They were very aggressive,” Yormack explained.
He acknowledged that the Gunners’ approach attracted serious consideration from the Brazilian despite his longstanding attachment to Madrid.
“Did he ever seriously consider Arsenal? I mean of course,” Yormack said.
“When a team like Arsenal rolls out the red carpet for you and makes you feel really wanted, then obviously you have to listen.”
Nevertheless, Yormack insisted that Vinicius remained determined to continue his career at the Santiago Bernabeu.
“But to Grant’s point, Vini’s heart is in Madrid, that’s where he’s always wanted to be,” he added.
The winger joined Madrid from Flamengo in 2018 and has since established himself among Europe’s leading attackers, winning two Champions League titles.
Why Vinicius Junior chose Real Madrid over Arsenal
Grant Veitch, Roc Nation’s director of African football recruitment, explained that Vinicius’ longstanding connection with Madrid was central to his decision.
“With Vini, he went to Madrid at a very young age, and I think there’s an element of comfort, wanting to be there and wanting to build something at Real Madrid,” Veitch said.
He added that the player’s established reputation and desire to win further trophies ultimately outweighed opportunities elsewhere.
Arsenal’s interest reportedly intensified in July when the club explored several attacking targets, including Bradley Barcola, Julian Alvarez and Yan Diomande.
Vinicius was approaching the final year of his previous Madrid contract, creating uncertainty over his future as negotiations initially stalled.
However, the Brazilian ended speculation by agreeing to fresh terms with the Spanish giants.
His representatives now believe he could spend the remainder of his career at Madrid, effectively closing the door on Arsenal’s pursuit.
The winger has endured a difficult start to the campaign, but his agency’s comments suggest that his commitment to the Spanish club remains unchanged.
