NFL Player Shockingly Gets His Gun From His Car After Fight With Teammate
Elliott, who signed a two-year, $8 million contract with Tennessee this offseason, was released Tuesday after the team reviewed an incident at its facility on Oct. 15. The Titans initially offered few details, but subsequent reporting has revealed troubling allegations about what happened after a confrontation with offensive tackle JC Latham.
According to A to Z Sports reporters Austin Stanley and Easton Freeze, Elliott became frustrated with Latham following a play during practice. The disagreement reportedly continued after Elliott was told to leave the field.
Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 subsequently reported that Elliott removed his pads, stormed out of the facility and went to his vehicle in the players’ parking area to retrieve a firearm. According to Wilson’s sources, security cameras captured the sequence of events that had spectators saying “He Got His Gun.”
The situation could have taken a much more dangerous turn. Veteran defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly intervened and talked Elliott down before anyone was hurt.
It remains unclear from the public reporting whether Elliott brought the firearm back toward the practice area. Neither the Titans nor Elliott has publicly confirmed the detailed accounts of the incident.
The Titans acknowledged the incident in a statement released Tuesday, making clear that the organization had reviewed what happened before deciding to move on from the veteran defensive lineman.
“On Thursday, October 15, there was an incident at our team facility involving Jordan Elliott,” the team said. “Following our review of the incident, we have made the decision to release Elliott from our roster. We will have no further comment on the matter.”
Ex-#Titans DT Jordan Elliott went to his car to retrieve his gun after a practice altercation with OT JC Latham last Thursday (Oct. 15).
After being told to leave the field, Elliott took off his pads and stormed out of the facility, then went to the players’ lot. Security cameras captured the sequence. Veteran DL John Franklin-Myers talked him down, and no one was hurt.
The Titans released Elliott on Tuesday after reviewing the incident. He signed a 2-year, $8M deal this offseason.

The Metro Nashville Police Department told A to Z Sports that it had not received a report about the incident and had not been contacted by the team in connection with it, according to the outlet’s reporting.
Elliott’s departure also came after he missed practice Friday for what head coach Robert Saleh described as personal reasons. He was subsequently inactive for Tennessee’s 26-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
The 28-year-old had appeared in each of the Titans’ first five games, recording 11 tackles. Tennessee brought him to Nashville in March after he spent the previous two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, where he had played under Saleh.
Before joining San Francisco, Elliott spent four seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Through his first five games with Tennessee, he had been expected to help anchor the defensive line in Saleh’s first season as head coach.
Instead, his time with the Titans ended just months after signing his new contract.
The incident has also drawn attention because of how quickly a disagreement between teammates reportedly escalated away from the field. NFL practices can be physical and emotions can run high, but the reported involvement of a firearm made this situation far more serious than an ordinary practice altercation.
For the Titans, the decision to release Elliott followed an internal review, though the team has declined to discuss its findings publicly.
Franklin-Myers’ reported intervention meant the situation ended without anyone being injured. The circumstances surrounding the incident, however, raise significant questions about what happened that day and what comes next for Elliott’s NFL career.
