“West Ham Could Move” For 5 Cap International In January But Sensational Return Hinges On Key Decision
West Ham would be keen on bringing Axel Disasi back to the London Stadium in January, according to insider ExWHUEmployee.
Speaking on The West Ham Way podcast (quotes via their website), Ex said that the defender’s return to the club depends on whether his current team are willing to cut his loan short:
“West Ham still hold a firm interest in Axel Disasi, with the player’s loan at Crystal Palace currently not going to plan for the Eagles and the player.”
“Although there is nothing from Palace sources suggesting his loan from Chelsea will be terminated, West Ham are definitely keeping an eye on this.”
“Should the loan arrangement be scrapped, West Ham could move for him in January, as he can play for another club as he hasn’t featured for Chelsea this season so far.”
Disasi has struggled since moving to Palace
The Frenchman, who has been capped 5 times by his country, has found things tough following his arrival at Selhurst Park in the summer.
Disasi was sent off after just 34 minutes in his second league start against Ipswich Town last month. His team went on to lose the match 3-2.
The 28-year-old did help keep a clean sheet against Lech Poznan in the Europa League five days later, but his second appearance in the competition last Thursday didn’t go so well. He played the full 90 minutes as Palace lost 3-2 to Lyon.
West Ham need another centre-half
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have conceded 12 goals in 11 league matches. It is by no means the worst record in the Championship, but strengthening the centre of defence will be a priority in January.
All three senior centre-backs are starting at the moment, with the Nottingham Forest loanee Morato being deployed at left-back, and Konstantinos Mavropanos and Max Kilman partnered in the middle. The lack of cover is something that the Irons will have to address, and if Disasi becomes available, it’s clear that Nuno wants him to return.
