Full practice today.

So Baker Mayfield returned to practice today, the first time being full-go since he dislocated the thumb on his throwing hand in the loss to Cleveland.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles was rather happy with what he saw from Mayfield, saying he looked “effective,” as the Bucs’ starting quarterback split snaps with backup Jalon Daniels.

Bowles said he hopes to make a decision on Friday who will start against the Stinking Panthers. Bowles wasn’t ready to declare Mayfield as the starting quarterback for Sunday in Charlotte. Yet.

Bowles cautioned that the Bucs are waiting to see how Mayfield’s thumb/hand responds to a full practice and make sure today’s practice doesn’t set Mayfield back. That will be a big factor in determining if Mayfield can start Sunday against the Stinking Panthers.

Mayfield wore a protective glove on his throwing hand throughout practice. Bowles said Mayfield has done that before and the glove did not seem to be an impediment.

If Mayfield is able to complete a full practice tomorrow, Thursday, that may be a good sign for Mayfield.
