Man City to Pay Tribute to Record-Breaking 'Centurions' Season in 2027/28 Home Kit

Manchester City’s 2027/28 home kit will reportedly honour the club’s famous 2017/18 ’Centurions’ campaign, marking a decade since they became the only team to earn 100 points in a Premier League season.

Manchester City supporters will never tire of reminiscing about the 2017/18 season, as Pep Guardiola’s side turned a title race into a procession, piling up 100 points, 106 goals and 32 wins to finish 19 points clear of second-placed Manchester United.

Earning the 'Centurions' nickname in the process, that campaign remains the only time a single Premier League team has broken the 100-point barrier, achieved on the final day thanks to Gabriel Jesus’ last-gasp winner against Southampton.

Now, nearly a decade on from the achievement, that campaign looks set to be commemorated with a new shirt as fresh information suggests Manchester City will build their 2027/28 home kit as a tribute to the Centurions - 10 years after the record was set.

Man City's 2027/28 shirt honours the Centurions

That claim and leaked information comes courtesy of Footy Headlines, who report that German sportswear giants Puma intend to theme the 2027/28 home shirt on the 2017/18 achievement set by Pep Guardiola and his players.

The homage would land exactly 10 years on from the season the Catalan's historic Manchester City team set such records, in what was the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager's second season at the Etihad Stadium.

What could the new City home shirt look like?

In the 2017/18 campaign, Manchester City were a Nike-affiliated side, turning out in a simple sky blue shirt with white detailing picked out on the collar and the sides.

Puma, who have since taken over production of the club's kits and accompanying merchandise, are expected to put their own contemporary spin on the idea of 2017.

Exactly how the tribute will be integrated remains unclear, but the report floats options such as nods to the original design set by Nike, understated Centurions detailing, or commemorative lettering hidden inside the collar or hem.

Manchester City's last remaining Centurion

There is a further twist to the tribute in that by the time the 2027/28 season comes around, Phil Foden will likely be the only member of that Centurions squad still on the books at Manchester City.

The poster academy graduate broke into the first-team and made his Premier League debut that very season - a teenager on the edges of a side stacked with stars, and has grown into one of the first names on the team sheet.

Should the kit arrive as described, Phil Foden would be the only player linking the class of 2017/18 to the team that pulls it on under Enzo Maresca from the start of the 2027/28 campaign.

The shirt and kit itself is not expected to go on sale until May or June 2027, however, and so there is a long wait before anyone can wear it.

By then, Phil Foden and his team-mates may well have added honours of their own worth celebrating, with Manchester City currently top of the Premier League and pushing hard on every front, led by Enzo Maresca.

A decade on, the Centurions remain the benchmark against which every Manchester City team is measured and, if reports are to be believed, the 2027/28 home shirt could carry that reminder for a full year.
